My Career In Aviation: Patrick Dunne
My career in aviation started back in the 1970’s; I started college studying aircraft maintenance in 1974, initially licensed in Canada in 1977 and with continuing license progression full avionics āEā engine airframe M1-M2ā license coverage was achieved in 1986, one only a dozen engineers in Canada with the full range of coverage at that time. Four years formal training at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and multiple industry courses including Level II N.D.T licensing in Canada has provided a strong technical foundation.
In 1995 overseas experience began with release authority being gained in India in support of DHC-8-301 aircraft deliveries there, 1996 Malaysian Licensing and Post holder certification in support of CRJ-200 and DHC-8-300 and 200 aircraft. In 1997 release authority in Israel was issued for aircraft deliveries there and in 1998 British CAA license in the Bahamas, 1999 License coverage and Post Holder certification in Bangladesh, and release authority in Kenya in 2004 supporting aircraft flying into Darfur with the UN.
In 2007 Papua New Guinea Post holder certification was issued as Maintenance Controller at Air New Guinea and in 2007 Post Holder certification for GM Engineering. In 2010 type rating on the DHC-Q400 in both Airframe and Avionics was achieved.
Effective and accountable in high-responsibility roles in Airline Management
In the past 20 year’s postings as Line Engineer, Base Engineer Avionics Department Manager, Engineering Manager, Director Engineering, Manager Maintenance Control and General Manager Engineering, CEO. I have successfully accomplished these increasingly responsible and complex roles in many civil aviation jurisdictions and operations.
Strong orientations in operations and finance; Constant participation in high-level operational initiatives, infrastructure development, process re-engineering, business reorganization, AOC and MOC establishment, and culture change have been standard duties. Life Cycle cost and cost controls, and defining the real economics of maintenance are my specialty.
